One ranking policeman who rushed to the aid of a colleague that got attacked by a knife attacker received the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a blade to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver following a vehicle incident in the area in July 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.
"Officer stabbed," the constable stated over his communication device.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera footage made public by the agency depicted Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood up, rush to Sgt Foster from behind with a weapon outstretched.
He struck the officer who lost balance and dropped to the street, before Sergeant Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the ground although being repeatedly struck with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and sought a safe opportunity, ending the struggle to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide something on my throat here, I'm bleeding in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell received two lacerations to his neck and additional cuts to his limbs and torso, while Sergeant Foster suffered knife wounds.
The department said Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stem his colleague's bleeding prior to medical personnel reached the scene.
This most recent honor comes after the three officers received internal Bravery Awards in October 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local officer association in early 2024.
They were also awarded a Area Bravery Award in summer 2024.
"The efforts of each policeman in the end rescued themselves and resulted in no bystanders experienced any wounds."
Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, per officials.
